Africa’s leading payments technology company, Flutterwave, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs through its partnership with the Activate Success International Foundation at the National Youth Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Programme (YEEP) 2026.
The summit, held in Abuja over the weekend, brought together young business owners, industry leaders, and ecosystem stakeholders to explore how technology, mentorship, and access to resources can drive entrepreneurship and economic growth across Nigeria.
Speaking during the event, Flutterwave Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Olugbenga Agboola, emphasized the need to provide young entrepreneurs with the tools, infrastructure, and opportunities required to build sustainable and scalable businesses.

During a fireside chat with the Chief Executive Officer of Activate Success International Foundation, Love Idoko-Uloko, Agboola reflected on Flutterwave’s journey from a startup to one of Africa’s leading fintech companies.
He explained that the company was founded with a vision to build the “infrastructure of infrastructures,” enabling African businesses to seamlessly connect with customers across multiple markets, both within and outside the continent.
Drawing lessons from Flutterwave’s growth story, Agboola recounted the company’s early efforts to gain credibility on the global stage, including pitching its vision to investors and stakeholders in San Francisco.
He also highlighted the importance of mentorship, humility, and strong professional relationships, noting that the late banking executive, Herbert Wigwe, played a significant role in supporting Flutterwave’s growth and opening strategic opportunities for the company.
Agboola encouraged young entrepreneurs to leverage the opportunities available in today’s digital economy, stressing that access to technology, information, and global markets has created unprecedented possibilities for African innovators.
“You are living in a world where you can learn anything, build anything, and become anything. The question is whether you are locking in and investing in yourself with the consistency and excellence that will carry you to where you are going,” he said.
Also speaking at the summit, Flutterwave’s Business Development Executive, Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, reiterated the company’s commitment to helping emerging entrepreneurs overcome barriers through access to digital payment solutions and business infrastructure.
According to her, Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape continues to evolve, creating new opportunities for young innovators prepared to take advantage of them.
“This is 2026, and the question has evolved from whether Africa is open for business to whether you are ready when that opportunity shows up for you,” Olaniyi said.
As part of its support for youth enterprise development, Flutterwave, in partnership with the Activate Success International Foundation, awarded more than 25 grants to young Nigerian entrepreneurs to support business expansion and strengthen the next generation of African business leaders.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic empowerment among young people across the continent.
