African fintech startups and industry leaders have been invited to participate in the inaugural TWIF Changemakers competition, an annual initiative recognising individuals and institutions making measurable and lasting contributions to the financial services sector.
The initiative is being launched by The Week in Fintech (TWIF), an independent fintech publication covering companies, people and ideas shaping the future of financial technology.
TWIF is inviting its community to nominate individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the fintech ecosystem over the past 12 to 18 months.
The inaugural TWIF Changemakers initiative will recognise contributions across five categories: big companies, startups, founders, venture capital firms, and social good and non-profit organisations.
The initiative is designed to highlight fintech players whose work has translated into tangible impact across financial services, rather than focusing solely on company growth or investment milestones.

Following the nomination period, entries will be assessed by an independent five-member judging panel comprising professionals from across the global fintech ecosystem.
The judging panel includes founders, venture capitalists, enterprise operators and policy experts, bringing perspectives from different segments of the financial technology industry.
African fintech startups are among the companies eligible to participate in the initiative, providing an opportunity for emerging companies across the continent to gain recognition for their contributions to financial inclusion, digital payments, lending, infrastructure and other areas of financial services.
The TWIF Changemakers competition is expected to become an annual platform for recognising the people and organisations contributing to the development of the global fintech ecosystem.
