PalmPay, a leading mobile payments and digital wallet provider in Nigeria, has rolled out a major anti-fraud awareness campaign in Kano as part of its drive to curb the growing wave of cybercrime targeting digital finance users.

Speaking at the campaign launch on Tuesday, Managing Director Chika Nwosu said the initiative underscores PalmPay’s commitment to building a safer and more secure financial ecosystem. He stressed that the company is determined to ensure its millions of users do not fall victim to online fraudsters exploiting digital channels.

Nwosu explained that the sensitisation campaign aims to educate customers and the general public on safeguarding their accounts, avoiding suspicious links, and verifying information before carrying out financial transactions.

He noted that many fraud incidents occur when users click on malicious or unverified links shared through SMS, social media, or email.

“Whenever you see any link on your phone or Facebook, verify it before clicking. If you don’t trust it, don’t open it,” he warned.

Nwosu also cautioned Nigerians especially PalmPay users never to share sensitive information such as OTPs or account details with unknown callers claiming to be company representatives.

“PalmPay customer care will never call to ask for your personal details. If anyone calls requesting codes or numbers, don’t share. Contact our official care line to confirm,” he stated.

He added that PalmPay has teams deployed nationwide to support customers and handle complaints. Although fraud cases have dropped significantly, he said the company’s goal is to completely eliminate them.

“The cases are going down, but we won’t relax until fraud is reduced to zero,” he said.

Nwosu also disclosed that PalmPay has issued over two million ATM cards across Nigeria, all of which can be used on commercial bank ATMs for withdrawals, transfers, and other transactions.

He urged users to stay alert and utilise PalmPay’s support channels whenever in doubt.

“If you see anything you’re not comfortable with, contact our team immediately.”

The anti-fraud campaign will continue across major Nigerian cities as PalmPay intensifies efforts to enhance user safety and strengthen trust in digital financial services.
